It all started with a station wagon full of buttons. Remember station wagons? Now they’re called crossovers.
Anyway, a friend of ours had a garage full of buttons, and his wife wanted to park inside during their New England winters. Can’t really blame her.
So we took the buttons off his hands, and started sorting through them to figure out a)
what we had,
and b)
what we were going to do with them.
It turned out we had some nice stuff. So we started selling them, and voila! After a few weeks, we had a new business. Later on we began to travel, to make connections with manufacturers and designers of buttons in some really remote, but very cool places. On one trip, through Italy, we were stopped on the road because of a giant balloon race.

But the point of all this traveling was to find the right kinds of button creators, because we have never been interested in run-of-the-mill button styles. These trips allowed us to pinpoint button producers who had previously only sold locally, so their
beautiful creations were never seen in the US, or really anywhere else.
Our business grew, as retail shops and garment manufacturers everywhere saw our collection and realized what beautiful buttons really were now available.

Then, more than twenty years later, we added our
shawl pin collection. Most of these are produced by our usual makers, with the same tender loving care they give to our buttons. Many of these producers are in small villages, with factories that can employ multiple generations of the same family.
We have made a lot of friends in our travels, and as a result, we have wonderful relationships. This helps in any number of ways, but mostly because our designers work just that much harder to put a special touch into what they’re doing.

We think of our buttons as much more than just little things to keep your shirt closed. In their own way, they are pieces of art. Pieces that show off taste and style when your customers finish what they’ve made with a few pieces of jewelry for their clothes. Buttons, shawl pins. Either way, it’s the finishing touch that highlights the project.
What started in a station wagon now fills shelf after shelf of warehouse space, with some of the most beautiful designs ever added to clothing.
Browse through our catalog and see for yourself. Bring these pieces into your shop, and let your customers see for themselves how much better their projects can be.
Thank you for visiting. We hope you find some things that you would like to try. And if you do, drop us a line and let us know how it worked out.
